The studio combines a comfortable queen bed and practical kitchenette with something genuinely memorable: an exclusive-use barrel sauna with a full-glass front looking towards the ocean. A separate viewing platform gives you another private place to share a glass of wine, watch the changing light and listen to the west-coast swell.

The curved timber sauna is the defining Barrique experience, with its arched glass front framing the vineyard, native bush and Tasman Sea—arguably one of the most remarkable views you’ll find from a sauna anywhere. Slip into the supplied robes, settle into the warmth and watch the changing light move across Raglan’s wild west coast. The sauna and separate viewing platform are reserved exclusively for Barrique guests, so the experience remains yours.
Simply message us with the time you would like to use the sauna, giving us at least 30 minutes’ notice. We’ll switch it on remotely and set it to be warm and ready at your requested time.
A COMPACT VINEYARD ESCAPE
Barrique Studio is our more compact and affordable accommodation option, positioned alongside our garage and close to our family home. It has its own entrance, and we respect your privacy while remaining conveniently nearby if you need anything.
The studio itself does not have an ocean view, but your exclusive viewing platform and barrel sauna are just a few steps away, both overlooking the vineyard, native landscape and Tasman Sea.
Inside, the kitchenette provides the essentials for a short stay, while your private barbecue gives you another convenient option for preparing meals. Guests can also pre-purchase bottles of our limited-release Syrah, Rosé and Pinot Gris for arrival or, when available, purchase our guest-only In-Room Wine & Platter add-on.
BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
Barrique Studio is approximately 30 minutes from Raglan and five minutes from Ruapuke Beach.
The final four kilometres are on a public gravel road suitable for standard vehicles (no requirement for 4WD).
Dining and shops are in Raglan, so arrive with food if you plan to cook or settle in for the evening.
Tap water is filtered and safe to drink.
Check-in is from 3 pm and checkout is by 10 am.

Is the sauna private?
Yes. The barrel sauna is for the exclusive use of Barrique guests. Simply message us with the time you would like to use the sauna, giving us at least 30 minutes’ notice. We’ll switch it on remotely and set it to be warm and ready at your requested time.
Can we cook?
Yes. The kitchenette and outdoor gas barbecue are suited to simple meals. There’s also a single plug‑in hob and all the basic kitchen utensils. Cooking oil, salt, and pepper are provided as well.
How private is it?
The studio is closer to the hosts’ home than Foudre Suite, but has its own entrance and exclusive sauna and viewing platform.
Can we bring a dog?
Yes—one well-behaved, house-trained dog is welcome, but it must be included when making your booking.
If you’re staying with your pooch:
Dogs must be house-trained.
Dogs are not permitted on the furniture or beds.
Please bring your dog’s blankets, pet bed and crate if you use one.
Our friendly golden retriever, Daisy, may stop by once or twice to say hello during your stay.
Can we book a wine tasting during our stay?
Yes. Guests can book our self-guided Shelter experience, featuring tasting pours of five estate-grown wines and a WineWalk through the vineyard. Alternatively, you can purchase our guest-only In-Room Wine & Platter add-on, with tasting pours of three wines and a curated platter delivered to your accommodation.
