Wake to birdsong and the distant sound of the Ruapuke swell, then take your coffee outside as the morning light moves across the vineyard and native bush. Foudre Suite has been designed for couples and solo travellers seeking genuine privacy, generous space and a deeper connection with the surrounding landscape.
This is more than somewhere to sleep while visiting Raglan—the suite is a destination in itself. Spend the afternoon soaking in your private cedar hot tub, watch the sun disappear beyond the west coast, then settle beside the wood fire with a bottle of wine grown and made here on the property. The hot tub and outdoor space are exclusively yours throughout your stay, allowing you to relax completely at your own pace.
Inside, the self-contained guest house provides the comfort and independence needed to stay in: a full kitchen, comfortable living area, queen bedroom and everything required for an unhurried escape. In summer, open the space to the sounds and changing light of the coast; in winter, light the fire and enjoy the warmth as the weather moves across the landscape.

STAY AT THE VINEYARD
Barrelled Wines is a small, working vineyard and winery planted on the foothills of Mt Karioi. Our limited-release Syrah, Rosé and Pinot Gris are grown and made here. Accommodation guests can pre-purchase bottles for arrival and, when available, add an In-Room Wine & Platter with three tastings and a carefully prepared platter delivered to the suite.
Because this is a working vineyard, occasional activity or spraying may take place during the growing season. We keep disruption to a minimum and will let guests know whenever practical.
BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
The final four kilometres are on a public gravel road suitable for standard vehicles (no requirement for 4WD).
Dining and shops are in Raglan, so arrive with food if you plan to cook or settle in for the evening.
Tap water is filtered and safe to drink.
Our family home is elsewhere on the property; Foudre is positioned for privacy, and we are nearby if you need us.
Check-in is from 3 pm and checkout is by 10 am.

How private is Foudre Suite?
It’s a self‑contained guest house designed for privacy. Your hot tub and outdoor area are for your exclusive use. We live nearby, about 30 metres away, but you’ll have plenty of privacy throughout your stay.
Can we cook?
Yes. Foudre has a full kitchen. As the property is remote from restaurants and shops, arriving with supplies is recommended.
Is the hot tub available all year?
Yes — the hot tub is available year‑round. From time to time we may need to refill it between guests, which can slow down the heating, but we avoid this whenever possible.
Can we bring a dog?
Yes—one well-behaved, house-trained dog is welcome, but it must be included when making your booking.
If you’re staying with your pooch:
Dogs must be house-trained.
Dogs are not permitted on the furniture or beds.
Please bring your dog’s blankets, pet bed and crate if you use one.
Our friendly golden retriever, Daisy, may stop by once or twice to say hello during your stay.
Can we book a wine tasting during our stay?
Yes. Guests can book our self-guided Shelter experience, featuring tasting pours of five estate-grown wines and a WineWalk through the vineyard. Alternatively, you can purchase our guest-only In-Room Wine & Platter add-on, with tasting pours of three wines and a curated platter delivered to your accommodation.
